Perfect tiny balls of ice dropping from the sky

Pattering into the river as it slowly sidles by

People rushing through the swirls, umbrellas held aloft

Bundled up in boots and coats, we must be getting soft

The skies are grey and leaden, cold and dreary damp

The heating’s  on it’s last legs, it’s so cold I’m getting cramp

But it’s May before the week’s out, the sun must show its face

And fill the skies with molten gold, a heartening touch of grace
