Day two of Writing 201 – Poetry is to write a poem in the form of an acrostic. Not something I’ve tried before so here goes:
THE GIFT
Thoughtful, it’s terrific, thanks
Heartfelt, I’m happy and honoured
Ecstatic, elated and emotional
Given with grace, I’m gobsmacked
It’s ideal, so innovative
From you, for me, forever
To treasure – truly
Today’s device was suggested as a simile, but I couldn’t get my brain to compute that one after a long day’s work – perhaps I’ll try it another day when my brain isn’t so frazzled.
So sweet and heartfelt, Ruth. 🙂

First of all, the image of the gift bag is so lovely! Second, what gracious and sweet words of thanksgiving. Now I feel a teeny bit bad for wanting some else as a gift in my Acrostic.

😄 I almost re-wrote it to reflect disappointment – your comment had me laughing because I wasn’t brave enough to do so.

I love the line, “Given with grace, I’m gobsmacked.” The juxtaposition of “gobsmacked” and grace is odd and delightful.
A very sweet poem!

Ha ha, I’m afraid I need a little humour in my scribblings – I tend to sound a bit maudlin otherwise 🙂

It’s hard to move away from sentimentality when given a topic titled “Gift,” isn’t it? Nice one!

You did a great job with the alliterations, though. Lovely 🙂
